Overview
The 'Protect listings' section holds the full history of every change suggested or applied to your Google Business Profiles. That includes Google's own suggestions, public user contributions, edits from managers and other users, and the updates Protector declined for you.
Two views do the work. Use 'All edits' to read the complete history and act on anything still pending. Use 'Auto-declined' to audit the updates Protector rejected on your behalf.
This page covers the review workflow. To switch protection on, see the Protect Listings guide.
Edit statuses
Every tracked change carries a status, which is what lets your team triage quickly:
- Pending: The edit has been detected and is waiting for someone to review it. This is the default state for incoming suggestions on listings that Protector is not covering.
- Accepted: Someone reviewed the edit and approved it. The change is applied to the live profile.
- Declined: Someone reviewed the edit and rejected it. The profile keeps its previous value and the suggestion is archived.
- Auto-declined: Protector rejected an unauthorized update automatically. Nobody had to review it, and the attempt stays in the log.
'All edits' is the combined view across all four statuses. Reach for it when you need the full history of a location or when you are investigating a pattern of repeated suggestions.
Review and act on pending edits
Each entry records the business, the field that changed, the date, and the status. Select an entry and the panel on the right compares the new value against the previous one, so you can see exactly what a suggestion would do before you decide.
- Open 'Protect listings' from the main navigation.
- Select 'All edits'.
- Choose an entry to compare its new and previous values.
- For anything marked 'Pending', click 'Accept change' to publish the new value or 'Decline change' to keep the previous one.
Tip: Work the pending queue regularly for any listing that Protector is not covering. On those listings an unreviewed suggestion can still go live.
Review changes Protector blocked
Open 'Auto-declined' to see the updates Protector rejected without asking you. The subtitle on that view names the setting responsible, and each entry opens the same comparison panel, so you can see the value someone proposed next to the value Localith preserved.
These entries need no action. They exist so a central team can prove what was attempted and what was kept, which matters most for franchise networks and agencies where the business name, address, phone number, and primary category have to stay consistent across every location.
Note: Auto-declined edits also appear in 'All edits'. Repeated attempts against the same field often point to a data quality problem worth fixing at the source rather than a one-off bad suggestion.
Best practices
- Review the pending queue daily if you manage more than 10 listings without Protector. Suggestions stack up quickly, and an ignored one can be applied by Google.
- Use 'All edits' for monthly audits. If the same field keeps getting suggested across several locations, your published data is probably inconsistent somewhere.
- Check 'Auto-declined' for patterns rather than for decisions. The work it points to usually lives outside Localith.
- Pair the two halves of the section. Protect Listings prevents unauthorized changes, and this log gives you the audit trail.
- Keep your Localith data current, since that is the value Protector restores during a scan.
FAQ
Does Protect Listings track edits from my own team?
Yes. Every change is logged, including internal ones, so the audit trail is complete no matter who started the change.
What happens if I ignore a pending suggestion?
On an unprotected listing, Google may eventually apply it. Declining unwanted suggestions explicitly is the safer habit, and switching on Protector removes the deadline entirely.
Where can I see the changes Protector blocked?
Open 'Auto-declined' under 'Protect listings'. Each entry shows the proposed value and the value Localith kept.
Can I still review changes once Protector is active?
Yes. Protector declines unauthorized updates automatically, and the complete history stays available under 'All edits'.
